ABOUT LOCAL 91 |
|
Local 91 represents all Wisconsin State Employees in the Counties of Milwaukee, Washington, Waukesha and Ozaukee, excluding those employees in the jurisdiction of other AFSCME local unions.
Our local respresents members in four seperate bagaining units: Technical, Blue Collar, Administrative Support, and Security & Public Safety. We negotiate wages, hours, and working conditions; and represent people who have a grievance with management.
Approximately 230 workers are represented by Local 91. We are a democratically run membership organization. Monthly meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00p.m. at two rotating locations.
The best way to ensure that the union represents your views is to become a member and participate in meetings. That is where decisions are made.

HOW TO CONTACT A STEWARD? |
|
| Tell your supervisor that you want to meet with your steward "about a possible grievance." Stewards are trained in the contract, and will be able to give your problem the attention it needs. Your supervisor doesn’t have the right to ask you why, and must set up a private meeting in a timely manner on work time (In paid status). Ideally, and whenever possible, these meetings should be scheduled for the next day after the request is made when both employees are scheduled to work. However, it is understood that this is not always possible due to real operational needs. | | |

REPRESENTED EMPLOYEES RIGHTS |
|
Every two years, the agreement (red book contract) states what wages, benefits, rights, and responsibilities we have, and what rights and responsibilities management has. Both the union and the State are obliged to obey this agreement. If your supervisor violates our contract, you can file a grievance to force them to correct the problem.
One of the rights under the contract is the right to file a grievance on work time and to have a steward represent you during any disciplinary or investigatory meeting with management; if you believe disciplinary action may result from the meeting. | | |
